Zip-Dee-Dee-Do-Da
We decided to try ziplining in Ecuador, since we enjoyed it so much in Costa Rica. We teamed up with a father and son, that were staying at the same cabins as us. The owner of the cabins took us out to the site in his 1962 Landrover. What an awesome machine that was!
Off to Mindo Canopy Adventure we went. Greg and Ryan, the father/son duo had never been ziplining, and Greg (the father) especially was quite anxious to try it. Our zipping group contained just the 6 of us. It was nice to be a smaller group than we had in Costa Rica, not as much waiting around.
It was a blast…again. There were 13 ziplines altogether. There was no 1km line (like there was in Costa Rica), but I think it was just as much fun for a 1/4 of the cost. Sara and Sean got to do more lines on their own, which they were very happy about. Also, we had the option to do “superman” or “mariposa” (butterfly). Five of the six of us tried at least one pose. Ryan was the champion and tried them both. Sara, Kevin and I tried “butterfly”, in which you hang upside down, spread eagle. Here is Sara getting ready.
She relaxed a bit as she got going. I know this is a far away shot, but this is me butterflying.
It was a blast!!! Sean and Ryan tried the “superman”. Check out this technique.
Lots and lots of fun!! A great time was had by all.
When we got back to the cabins, the kids decided to take Mungo for a little paddle in the floating patio. He enjoyed it fine until he noticed his “girlfriend on the side of the pond, then he wanted out!
Instead, we let the girlfriend in.
So Mungo is having a great time as well!
We’ll give the honour of the last picture to the “old guy”, who did a fabulous job. Go get ‘um Greg! Your wife will be proud!!

Looks like your kids enjoyed the ‘floating patios’ as much as our kids! Hey, if you have time, visit the Mariposario… it’s pretty awesome, if you are into butterflies.

We really enjoyed the zip-lining! I also did the butterfly, and almost wet myself I was so scared!
Glad you guys are having fun, we are going to miss you this Christmas!

Hey Daniela,
Hope all is well down where you are. I can’t remember if you sent those zip lining photos to me or not. I’m making a little video of my time in Ecuador and would love to have them.
I was thinking about you recently with the Olympics being in Vancouver. Where were you from in Canada again? Were you able to watch any of the games? Talk to you soon.
Ryan
