Kayaks and Water Dog

Daniela

This morning was day two of school.  I finally started to learn something totally new, how to conjugate verbs in the past.  By the end of the morning, my brain hurt!! It was a hot day out and the lake was quite calm, so the kids finally got a chance to play in the lake on the inflatable kayaks.  We invited our host family’s daughter Tulita to join us.  She is as cute as a button, and about Sean’s age, so we thought she might have fun.  Really, how can a bunch of kids with water and a couple of inflatable boats NOT have fun on a beautiful sunny day.  Kevin and I went to the “beach” as well to keep an eye on the crew, and of course, the small hound joined us.

The hound dog is not a very big water dog.  Getting you feet wet is very refreshing as a Ridgeback, but getting your belly wet is a bit annoying.  It is much better to stand on large rocks and keep your belly dry.

Really, could you get any more pathetic looking.  Look at those SAD ears!!  We finally did get him swimming though.  Sean decided to take me out in the kayak for a tour, and this proved to be too much for the hound to bear.  Maybe he knows what a lousy swimmer I am and thought it unsafe to have my 8 year old son paddle me around.  In any case, he swam…not for long, but he swam.  P7280029 Shortly after this he decided I was on my own.  Rescue yourself, I’m going back to shore!!

Oh, just thought I would introduce you to a friend we had living in our room for a while.

P7260005   This fellow is about 2 inches in diameter.  We had to move him last night though, he was quite low on the wall and Mungo caught sight of him and thought he might make a tasty late night snack.  Not safe for the spider or the dog, so the spider had to leave.
