The White City

Daniela

Hello all from Sucre.  We arrived in town just after lunch and managed to find ourselves a nice little hostel to hang out at for  the next few days.  At first, we were unsure if the owners would let us in, the lady was worried that Mungo would wreck her plants.  I promised her that he would not and that we would walk him out of the yard.  She accepted this and so we were admitted in.

We haven’t had much time to explore Sucre yet.  The city is located at about 2800m, and what a difference in temperature a 1000m makes.  It is not HOT, but it is not long pants weather, which is what we have been in for the last few weeks.

There is a dinosaur park near town, that I think we will check out tomorrow.  I am not sure how many fossils we will see, but supposedly the park is home to a good collection of dinosaur footprints.  I will let you know tomorrow.

As we thought, the city is neat and pretty.  The historic centre is filled with whitewashed buildings.  In fact, it was the law that all buildings be whitewashed once a year.  I am unsure if the law still holds, but the city retains it’s nickname as “the white city”.

I am not sure if we will be here for 2 night or 3.  We’ll see how quiet it is at night.  I will try to get some photos tomorrow to liven up the page a bit.
