MUNGO EATS Latin America

Another day, another border crossing.  We entered Costa Rica today, and although nothing went wrong today, it took a heck of a long time to get through.  It was a very crowded border, which is not surprising given that it is the only border crossing between Nicaragua and Costa Rica.  As well, since Costa Rica is not in the C4 group of countries, all the Central Americans crossing between the countries had to stand in line as well.   In all, it took us about 4 hours to get through. 

Tonight we are just outside Liberia, in a fairly run down campground.  It looks like they put a lot of work into building it, but then let the upkeep slipped.  I don’t know if they just get lazy or if the campground is not used as much as they hoped, so they give up on it.  In any case, we are only here for the night.  The plan is to go to a beach tomorrow and spend a few nights there.  Initially we thought we might drive to the beach today, but we were not up for it after the long border crossing. 

By the way, if you ever find yourself standing in a line at the Nicaragua/Costa Rica border, be careful where you step, or you may find yourself in the same predicament as Sara found herself…with a giant beetle stuck to her shoe!!! We actually had to take her shoe off and strike it against a building to get the bugger to let go (no pun intended).  He’s the new front runner in the “Biggest Bug We’ve Seen” contest.
